Welcome MessageTop of Page

Welcome to the Shasta Union High School District website. We are very proud of our website as a great source of information for the community, parents, students and staff. I hope you find the website easy to navigate and the information found here useful.

The Shasta Union High School District has been providing a quality education to the students in the greater Redding area for well over 100 years. Our schools strive to provide positive and enriching experiences in what we like to call the “Four A’s”.

Academics
From Advanced Placement and Honors courses, to intervention courses designed to assist students who may be falling behind, our schools offer a wide variety of interesting coursework. In addition to our college prep curriculum, we also offer a full complement of Career Technical Education courses. We believe we have a course of study to meet the needs of every student.

Athletics
Our schools compete in the always tough Eastern Athletic League (EAL) along with the other larger comprehensive high schools in our region. Our athletes are afforded every opportunity to compete at the highest level and many of our student athletes continue their athletic endeavors at the college and/or university level. We subscribe to the philosophy of “Pursuing Victory with Honor”, as adopted by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). We are extremely proud that at each of our comprehensive high schools nearly 50% of the student body is involved in athletics.

Arts
Our instrumental, choral, and drama programs are outstanding and heavily enrolled in by our students. Each school in the District has its own unique style and students every year earn the highest marks possible at various competitions and festivals. Our parent and community support is also amazing for these programs, as performances by our groups in local venues regularly sell out for each night of the performance. From the instructors, to the students, to the parents, the strength of these programs comes from the dedication of all involved.

Activities
Research regarding student success shows a clear, positive correlation between student achievement and involvement. Students who are involved in activities at school are more successful at school. It’s that simple. Understanding this relationship is the foundation from which we build outstanding clubs, student government programs, and service groups for our students. From the Associate Student Body (ASB), to the Science Teams, to the Future Farmers of America (FFA), to the Key Clubs, our students are involved in a variety of opportunities beyond the classroom that provide for learning in an entirely different way. These students are learning what it takes to be a productive citizen in our community.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our website. Please do not hesitate to contact me with comments or suggestions.
