Athletic coaches play a vital role in the student-athletes' experience with high school sports.  The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) has developed a set of requirements that are to be met by all high school coaches to ensure the safety of each student-athlete and to enhance the experience of student-athletes by assuring that their coaches meet a minimum level of professional training.
 
The Shasta Union High School District's policy is that all CIF and District requirements are met prior to any contact with students. This policy applies to all coaches, including volunteers. 
 
All coaches are required to take the following courses:
 
One time course:
 
Courses that must be renewed every two years:
 
Check to see if you are current with required courses:
 
Must be completed every year:

Also required:
  • Live Scan fingerprinting for processing a background check through the CA DOJ and FBI
  • Valid CPR & First Aid certification (Adult, Child & Infant)
  • Passed TB test

BLUEBOOK RULES:
This book is designed to assist school administrators and coaches with the everyday implementation of the interscholastic athletic programs.  It is updated annually including new rules and regulations (ie. practice limitation, transfers, concussion protocol etc.)  Read not only your section/sport, but all information related to athletics - rules/requirements etc.  This book provides rules and protocols that are non-negotiable and must be adhered to.
