Emerging Energy Technology Pathways is a program designed to strengthen college and career pathways for students in the Shasta Union and Anderson Union High School Districts and charter schools. Focusing on green technologies as a career focus, these pathways will provide rigorous and supportive learning options through relevant dual enrollment courses.
Initial focus is on wind and photovoltaic energy sources. Students begin with introductory and overview courses as a basis. Juniors and seniors are eligible for sequential classes. Courses leading toward various certifications and/or an AA Degree or transfer to a four-year degree program are part of the EE-Tech Pathways. Students graduating from partner high schools will be encouraged to continue the program at Shasta College.
Funded by a grant from The James Irvine Foundation, EE-Tech is part of a statewide initiative to increase the number and variety of college-level courses available to high school students that offer credit at both levels. Students can take courses that are required for high school graduation while earning credits at Shasta College that can lead to certification or degrees. Courses began in the fall of 2009. Fall 2010 classes will be held at high school campuses.
